Sommersemester 2024
Englisch - Spezialkurs Shut Up and Write! Stop procrastinating, start writing! - PRÄSENZ |
||||||||||
Do you have an essay to write that you've been putting off? Do you need to get started on your dissertation? Shut Up and Write! is a proven, no-nonsense way of getting words down on the page and making progress on your writing, transforming the (often) solitary act of writing into a social activity. In this course, you will set goals for your writing and then write for a set amount of time. The aim of the course is to improve your productivity and focus, and to get more writing done! The course is open to graduate students but also to any students who have a specific writing project they need to finish. Participants should come to class with their chosen writing device (laptop, tablet, or just paper and pen), headphones (if necessary), as well as a specific writing project or goal. (NOTE: This is *not* a course where student writing will be corrected for errors, though participants are free to ask the tutor for general writing advice.) Voraussetzung: Online-Einstufungstest mit 65 bis 100 Punkten. |

Englisch - Spezialkurs Academic Speaking Lab: Individual and Group Tutorial Service - PRÄSENZ |
||||||||||
Do you need to prepare for a conference or seminar presentation, an oral examination or to hold seminars and/or workshops in English and would like support in preparing for these tasks? In this academic speaking lab, you will have the opportunity to develop and practise the necessary skills in workshops and individual tutorial sessions. There will be workshops on topics of interest to all participants, such as pronunciation, intonation and use of emphasis and pauses while speaking, the language needed for effective presentations and discussion management, the use of visuals and other aids to support presentations and discussions and handling question and answer sessions. In addition, each participant can work with the tutor on the specific task they are preparing for. We will meet on Tuesday 23rd April at 2.15pm in Room 2.37 of the language centre to decide on the specific topics and dates of the workshop sessions and allocate individual tutorial sessions. If you are unable to attend the first session, please contact david.bowskill@hu-berlin.de after registering to arrange a first consultation. Voraussetzung: Online-Einstufungstest mit 65 bis 100 Punkten. |
